Preparation and Hand Wash

The exterior detailing services at Pit Stop Auto Detailing & Vehicle Storage begins with our team rinsing the entire vehicle with water to remove any really obvious loose dirt and debris. This step helps prevent scratching during the actual hand wash, along with our use of a two-bucket methodology and microfiber towels. During the hand wash process, our team always starts from the top and works our way down, making sure to reach all intricate exterior areas on the car, truck, or SUV under our care, including the wheels and rims.

Surface Decontamination with a Clay Bar

A car, truck, or SUV is not truly clean until our expert exterior detailers take a clay bar to those same areas we just worked to decontaminate! Claying is an intricate process that was established to remove bonded contaminants such as tar, bugs, or bird droppings, revealing the true clarity and condition of vehicle paint and other surfaces. Gently gliding the clay bar over the vehicle’s paintwork and a variety of other surfaces on the automobile, our exterior detailing team works in small sections at a time to ensure we cover all bases and remove all messes.

Drying All Surfaces and Adding a Sealant

Drying a vehicle following exterior detailing, claying, and a final rinse is just as important as the other steps of the process! We dry the vehicle using a microfiber drying towel as a way to immediately prevent any water streaks or spotting, especially on automobiles that have yet to be protected by the hydrophobic power of one of our ceramic coating packages or a PPF. After wiping all surfaces delicately, we now give customers the option to apply a protective layer to the paintwork included in their exterior detailing service OR to upgrade to one of our higher-grade paint protection packages.
